this description refers to the wall pieces.
after drawings of a new piece are completed, frames are laser cut from 1/8" steel and welded. the frames, which are then filled with glass objects, ultimately determine the overall layout of the work.
each completed work contains 100's to 1000's of individually blown or hot sculpted glass objects. in order to create texture or patterns, or to alter the sheen of the glass, these glass objects are either sandblasted and sealed, fused with patinated steel (rust), or engraved.
after the glass making process is finished, the objects are fixed to the frame in a specific location based on their relative color, size, and shape. together the individual objects form organic patterns rich in texture and depth.
